Why I Decided to Hire a Graphic Designer for my blog - an interview with Leah Everly

The other week, I decided it was time to up my ‘Pinterest game.’ As an ongoing Elite Blog Academy student, I am acutely aware of how important is it to have images that ‘pop’ (attract the reader’s attention) and in particular, design images, known as pins, that are optimized for Pinterest. That said, although I can deal with the basics of Canva, graphic design just isn’t my forte. What to do?! As fate would have it, the day I realized… Read more »

Last year, I decided to do a pre-emptive purge, or an early spring cleaning, to streamline the clutter in my life. Pouring over about a decade’s worth of random documents, pictures, and other belongings, I discovered a red journal where I had had every good intention of recording what would prove to be a memorable vacation in Australia. The journal continues just one short entry: Sydney Dec. 25th 2004 Xmas Left Japan 12/23 – had a long stopover in Taipei,… Read more »

Mother's Day Meditations: Letter to My Mom

Dear Mom, This Mother’s Day, I wanted to tell you how much I love you and reflect on how much I have learned from you. First, let me tell you how much I envy your energy and grit. Imagine working your buns off and squirreling away a nest… Read more »

Today started with a vivid dream. I don’t usually remember my dreams, thanks to my sleep apnea! I won’t go into details today {future post!}, but it was a powerful dream. Today started out as a typical working mom’s juggling act: caring for a sick child, arriving late to work, and shopping for a new real estate agent. Sadly, I’m not kidding about the third item…. After a long day of mental gymnastics, I came home to the most precious… Read more »

The Well Ordered Kitchen Planner

Taming Chaos in the Kitchen The Well-Ordered Kitchen Planner could not come at a better time of year–’tis the season for spring cleaning. My kitchen and pantry could use a serious overhaul. Our pantry is still the dumping ground for random ‘things’ without a ‘home.’ Half empty paint cans, two crock pots, and a million dollars. Ok, maybe not…. Pulling my hair out trying to decide what to eat for dinner is a common occurrence in our household. Almost daily… Read more »

I don’t know about you, but this has been a rough winter filled with procrastination. Just getting out of bed in the morning feels like an Olympic sport. The struggle to fight inertia is real! Opened boxes strewn across the basement floor. Four months after moving, we still have boxes and boxes of ‘stuff’ that haven’t been unpacked yet. Every time I walk by those boxes, the contents are screaming for my attention. Even more frustrating is the scope creep… Read more »
