DIY Clay Mask Recipe for Busy Moms

I don’t know about you, but my least favorite night of the week is Sunday. Yikes! Whoever invented the five day work week must not have enjoyed staying at home with family. So what’s a working mom to do to unwind at the end of a busy weekend? How about mixing a bentonite clay mask with some essential oils? It is so easy you will never want to buy a pre-made mask once you try this!

What makes this mask special is not only the top quality essential oils (read below), but also bentonite clay.

DIY Clay Mask Recipe

You will need the following ingredients:

  1. 1 teaspoon bentonite clay
  2. 1 teaspoon of filtered water
  3. 1-2 drops of essential oils (frankincense, purification,and tea tree are my ‘go to’ oils)
  4. Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey (note: I haven’t been brave enough yet to add the honey).

I recommend using only the best essential oils. If you don’t already have Young Living essential oils, I recommend investing in a starter kit. It comes with a diffuser and 11 essential oils. But I digress…

I first mix the clay and water to get the right consistency. You don’t want it to be too runny and not too thick. It should be like a paste. Then add the essential oils.

I recommend spot testing a patch on your hand or arm to check for any adverse reactions. I have very sensitive combination dry/oily skin and have not had any issues — but then again, I use only the best oils backed by Young Living’s ‘Seed-to-Seal’ promise.

If you have an essential oils diffuser, I recommend relaxing while you diffuse some lavender or Stress Away (both of these oils come in the starter kit that I mentioned above). Or, if you want to branch out a bit (pun intended), treat yourself to Northern Lights Black Spruce (NLBS) in your essential oils diffuser.

Imagine walking in a quiet forest and discovering a sense of peace and grounding. That’s how you’ll feel when you smell NLBS. Trust me, you’ll thank me for this.

As the days get shorter and it gets darker earlier outside, you can find respite by indulging in more self-care! Listen to your body’s cues and take time to stop and smell the forest (and the trees)! As Frank Costanza in the sitcom series Seinfeld once said, “Serenity Now.” (Except you will be much calmer than Costanza after this self-care protocol!)

Before I sign off, here’s a ‘working mom’ hack. If you double or triple the recipe, you can store the mask in a glass jar and then it will be ready-made for next Sunday. I recommend not using a facial clay mask more than once a week to avoid drying out your skin.
